<Rule of Engagement for the Battle of Castle-Hachigata, Yorii Town>

-- Dear warriors --

This document is Rulebook for those who participate the battle scene on the Hojo Festival.

Our primary duty is to enjoy the Festival safely and respectfully Violent behavior is prohabited in the the Festival.

The battle consists of two scenes.
1. First half battle : a scene that a forward of Hojo Force crosses the Arakawa River and fights against Toyotomi Force.
2. Second half battle : a scene that Toyotomi Force conducts general attack against Hachigata Castle, a position of Hojo Force.


--a. Basic Rule --

This rule is for all warriors attending the Battle at Yorii Festival.
Warriors use sword or spear made of soft material like sponge.

a-1. We must wear eye guard to protect our face.
a-2. We never hit other man by using hard material part of weapon like wooden handle. And do not cause other man to fall over.
a-3. We can use only weapon made of soft material like sponge. weapon made of hard material is not available.


--b. Rule for Close Range Fighting --

b-1. In the moment when any portion of our body is hit by enemy's weapon, we are "dead". Even if weapon touches our leg or finger, we are treated as "dead man". "Dead man" should act dying man for audiences.
b-2. Helmet, body armour, arm guard, leg guard can protect our body. Any hit on these armours is treated as no effect.
b-3. We never aim our weapon at enemy's face. Even if enemy's weapon hits our face, we never lose temper.
b-4. In the moment when enemy's weapon hits us, we are treated as "dead man", and we act good roll play as "dying man" and fall down. After falling down, we ramain "dead" and laid down for 10 seconds.
b-5. After 10 seconds since falling down, we must rise up and slowly retreat 30 steps back to evade enemy. At this time, we are required roll play as "wounded man".
b-6. In a case that there is no enough area for us to retreat 30 steps, see these following a) and b) rules.
a) We must step back as possibe as we can.
b) After steping back, we remain "wounded man" in (30 minus (number of steps that we went back)) seconds.
b-7. Person as "wounded man" completely recovers at the moment when he retreated 30 steps or remained in necessary seconds (see the above sentence b-6). After recovering, we can fight again.
b-8. Using hard material like wooden handle as weapon is strictly prohibited !
b-9. Regardless of individual fights, the result of the second half battle is always treated as stalemate according to the schedule of Festival.
b-10. We are all under the command of any squad leader. We have to obey our leader's order.
b-11. We never excite to be violent to anyone. Be careful not to attack friendly force.
b-12. We are all human. We should respect each other with humanity.
b-13. When we are in a boat, be careful not to drop into river.


--c. Rule for Archers --

c-1. Any archer can use only bows and arrows that have been permitted these usage by Executive Staff of Yorii Festival.
c-2. When arrow hits anyone, its treatment is equal to a hit by close range weapon like sword or spear.
c-3. Direct fire to target is prohabited because of safety. We can do only indirect fire.
c-4 A bullet (fired from air gun) is considered to be able to penetrate armour. Thus, in the moment when bullet hits any portion of our body, we are "dead"(see b-4).

--d. Rule of Other Issues --

d-1. We never attack civilians and non-combatants.
d-2. We never stand in front of "artilleries" which are set in the battlefield.
We never attack the crew of artillery who manage explosive because of they are non-combatants, not warriors.
d-3. We never climb up watchtowers which are set in the battlefield.
d-4. We never taste any alcoholic drink before the battle. We should drive any drunk from our forces.
d-5. Swimming in river at battlefield, any violent action in a boat are prohibited.
d-6. We have to deal with our trash. Because we should take care of natural environment, leaving trash is not proper behavior.
