The Battle at Yorii Festival is a show that we reenact and experience a historical event in the siege of Hachigata Castle in 1590.
At the Yorii Battle, AVALON is going to act Christian Troops under command of TAKAYAMA Ukon, Japanese christian general.
TAKAYAMA Ukon is a historical character belonged to TOYOTOMI Government that became champion in the internal conflict era of Japan in 16th century.
In 1590, in spite of Ukon had been dispossessed because of his belief, he was permitted to join the Maeda House Army of TOYOTOMI Combined Force at major campaign against HOJO Clan, and participated attcking force at the siege of Hachigata Castle.

TAKAYAMA Ukon (Male, 1552?-1615).
The best known of the Christian warlord. Ukon was baptized in 1564.
He first made a name for himself by killing his lord Wada (or Wata) Korenaga in 1573.
In 1578 Ukon betrayed his new lord, Araki Murashige (d 1586), in favor of Oda Nobunaga to prevent a threatened persecution of Christianity;
thereafter he ordered the Christianization of the people of Takatsuki (southwest of Kyoto).
Ukon played a key role in the Battle of Yamazaki(1582), helping Toyotomi Hideyoshi to win the succession to Nobunaga's hegemony.
In 1585 Ukon was transferred from Takatsuki to Akashi in Harima Province (now part of Hyogo Prefecture); here he again endeavored to convert the entire populace.
When Hideyoshi issued his anti-Christian edicts in 1587, he dispossessed Ukon. Eventually Ukon attained high status in the Maeda house but was dispossessed again when the Tokugawa shogunate undertook a general persecution of Christianity in 1614. Banished from Japan, Ukon died in Manila on 5 February 1615.
